Virgin Media Ireland Increases Unique Visits by 175% Through PageRaft

We are in an environment of constant innovation. Some channels of content distribution have become hot, while others have become cold.  Reader or subscriber behavior flips based on a new invention or platform.

In the midst of these changing perspectives, our research of digital content platforms has uncovered some user interface (UI) characteristics that have been a fundamental part of successful innovations in digital content distribution. These UI elements revolve around four key categories: simplicity, intuitiveness, attractiveness, and responsive design. Content delivery mechanisms that contain these elements in abundance tend towards gaining positive feedback through rating mechanisms as well as high levels of sharing, which in turn drives higher engagement.

With these UI elements in mind, we have created PageRaft.  The results have been solid, to say the least, and sometimes extraordinary. In fact, almost all our clients who have made the switch have seen increased readership in the form of both unique readers, as well as total opens, over a standard digital edition.

One such client that has seen an immediate improvement in readership and engagement is Virgin Media Ireland. They have a publication called Play Magazine that is distributed to all opted-in Virgin Media customers.  This publication was initially created using our replica platform and yielded fair results. However, transferring the publication into our PageRaft platform Play Magazine realized a 175% increase in unique readers, 186% increase in publication opens, and 50% increase in time spent per visit.  It’s important to note these changes occurred from one quarterly edition to the next.  On top of this, this publication was regarded so highly that it help Virgin Media beat out the likes of Toyota in the 2018 Content Marketing Awards for best Integrated Marketing Campaign of the Year.

To see examples of the publication in PageRaft on both desktop and mobile feel free to check out the videos below.  For clarity’s sake, in the mobile example the user interacts with the videos by pressing on the play icon at the top of each article and connects to Virgin Media Ireland’s social media through the use of the buttons on the left-hand side of the article.

As you will see, each header draws the reader into the content and the scrollable functionality of the interface lines up with what readers are used to, hence creating an intrinsic comfortability with the platform. It’s important to note that this publication only shows a fraction of what is possible from a design standpoint with PageRaft.  The creative capabilities are in many ways expansive.
