Learn From Industry Leaders with Folio:’s 100 Awards
October 29, 2014
With the 100 Awards, Folio: seeks to honor the most innovative and influential people in the magazine industry. Folio: sought out the ground-breakers, the entrepreneurial thinkers, and the disrupters in an industry that ranges from Business-to-Business publications to Business-to-Consumer, trade magazines to pop culture. Each publisher faces different challenges, and each of the honorees have demonstrated significant prowess in meeting them.
Folio: filtered the top 100 individuals into the categories of vision, content, marketing, disruption and revenue. Each of them can be viewed on their Folio 100 Awards main page here. Simply click on any of the faces to view a short description of the person being honored, and why they have been singled out.
If you click on the Q + A callout, you’re taken to a short interview section in which several of the honorees answer questions about topics such as the following:
- under-reported trends, and their affect on future brand decisions
- the value of publishing research in the B2C marketplace
- unconventional avenues for building engagement
- bridging the content needs of both reader and advertiser
- print’s value in the face of shifting resource investments
While the answers to these questions are informative, the best feature to this microsite dedicated to the elite 100 is in the additional content found at the bottom of each individual’s short bio. While the bio serves to highlight the individual’s achievements, the additional resource links out to an article that usually hits on what their company or their idea did that caused a big change either for their publication, their strategy, their audience or for the industry. Each bio, then, serves as a mini case study of how the industry has changed over the years in the pursuit of new revenues, new technologies, and new solutions to industry issues.
Nxtbook Media is proud to stand by Folio: in honoring these 100 individuals for their unique ideas and tireless pursuit of the next great innovation. If we learn from individuals such as these – along with any industry leader hitting upon strategies that take content publishing to the next level – this particular industry will be one to watch for the next decade and longer.
