For More Than Just Saving on Print

Wesco Aircraft is well known for providing some of the best in products and solutions for civil and commercial aerospace, and they’ve been steadily growing since their beginnings in 1953. Also since 1953, Wesco produced a print binder full of the products and services they offered as a sort of catalog. After everything was printed, they would mail the binders to prospective and current customers. Then, as Wesco added more services, or as it had in the past year, acquired another company, they would have to reprint the binders and mail them all out again.  This pricey process was compounded by having to manage both national and international shipping.

Wesco Aircraft approached Nxtbook Media with the hopes that going digital with their catalog would not only prove cost effective in eliminating print and mail costs, but also to add that “wow” factor that impresses their customers. As a full service company, Nxtbook Media was ready to step in to meet a number of Wesco Aircraft’s needs. We served as a one-stop-shop for providing the design services they lacked, the digital savvy to layer in custom animation and inspiring features, and the ability to deliver impressive catalogs to global audiences without getting stuck in customs.

Wesco Aircraft is top of the industry, and their products are of such quality, their tolerances come within one millionth of an inch. Because of this, Nxtbook Media’s designers wanted to have the catalog design match the quality of the products and services. The team emphasized large product images, emphasizing the diversity and superiority of the products offered. Rather than list all of the specs and suppliers on the page, which would detract from emphasizing the product, the designers included downloadable content, which interested customers could read separately. The team also added intuitive animations that keeps customers interested in the page and reinforces the professionalism of the catalog and the company behind it.

True to form, even as the project was being designed, Wesco Aircraft needed to change it. Several times alterations had to be built in as parts would suddenly change out. At another point in the project, Wesco purchased Haas Group, and more content needed to be added. Because they were working in close collaboration with the Nxtbook Media Design Team the changes were quickly communicated directly to the designer, bypassing any extra hassle or miscommunications. In the future, as Wesco Aircraft will continue to add new products and services, they can easily update the catalog by adding and swapping pages, without having the added costs of reprinting and mailing the updates again.
