And I Thought I Was Negative

This post at Digiday laments the early failures of magazines on the iPad, saying, "It’s probably as good as it’s going to get."
Though the authors and those quoted in the story should know better, the fact is this: our best days are certainly in front of us. Imagine, if you can, what it would be like to fit a well-designed magazine sized to fit each mailbox you put it in. It would be difficult. Very difficult. So your first move would likely be to make one that looks good in one mailbox, and hope it looks good enough in the others.
That would work for a while, but not long-term. But it also wouldn’t matter for a while, because imagine that mailboxes were still being invented and not everyone had one. You’d probably wait for mailboxes to go mainstream, but while you were waiting, you’d be thinking about how to make your product gorgeous AND fit inside every possible mailbox. Well that day is coming, and Nxtbook will be ready for it.
As Ed Harris says in Apollo 13 just before splashdown, "I think history will remember this as our greatest triumph." Or something like that.
