Former Digital Publishing VP & Employer Agree To See Other People

September 2, 2009 by

We received word last week that Cimarron Buser, former VP of Sales & Marketing for Texterity is no longer with the company. Details of the exodus are sketchy, particularly since competitors don’t exactly send us press releases regarding such news. To quote Iain Levison from A Working Stiff’s Manifesto, "Sometimes it’s hard to tell exactly what happened, you just know it wouldn’t be right for you to show up anymore." Regardless, his bio is gone from the Texterity website, and much of his long-winded previous title has been handed to long-term employee Wendy Zingher.

I’ve been asked a lot of questions regarding the news, ranging from:

* What does this mean for Texterity?
* What does this mean for the digital publishing industry?
* Where will Buser go next?
* Who will you argue with at tradeshows?
* Does this mean the two of you won’t shop for jackets together anymore? (see picture)

I don’t know the answer to these questions, quite frankly (other than the last one). Though the Nxtbook army has gone to battle with Buser countless times, and though we’ve had differing opinions on many things regarding technology and the magazine industry as a whole, know this: the man was extremely passionate about his beliefs, and here at Nxtbook, we tend to have a high regard for passion. For that reason alone, we’re sad to see him go.

Kudos to you for calling this out. Cim is truly passionate about his craft, and is an excellent thinker and educator. I have a feeling he’ll be back in the fold – digital magazines are too important to him.

Look at you Marcus taking the high rode! Great tribute–funny and poignant at the same time. I will miss the Marcus vs. Cim steal cage matches!

Nice pic, Marcus. You could say it was the “Cim & Grimm” Show.

It always makes companies better at what they do when they have competitors that are passionate about what they do. Nice article Marcus.
