The Internet is a Tough Crowd…

Nxtbook Intrique Developer Shanelle sent me the first opinions of Esquire’s E-Ink Cover, which is hitting the shelves now. Overall, audiences are less than impressed.

"If by "future" they mean 1997, then yes, they are successful in re-creating the famous blink tag."

Still, let’s not forget what we’re seeing here. First off, it’s the first time (lenticular notwithstanding) that a print product has done something besides sit there all static-like. Moreover, though Esquire’s losing their shirt on this thing, they’re not losing all of their shirts, so this type of technology is getting closer to being reasonable, pricewise.

All in all, it’s kind of like seeing the first fish slap up on the shoreline… It’s not too impressive for what it is, but if you use a little creativity, it’s kind of cool for what it will become.
