In a recent post I mentioned the importance of optimizing the images in an app store listing. The presentation below unpacks how to most effectively optimize those images.

Here are the items mentioned in the presentation:
Call Out the Best Features and Content – The image area of the listing gives you a chance to show off the most impressive features of the app. Too many magazine apps only show a screenshot of the cover or the app launch screen. Skilled marketers use the area to demonstrate the interactivity, design, and user experience that sets their app apart from the competition. For features that require some explanation, you can add short copy above or below the screenshot like the apps Vine and Pocket that are shown in the presentation.
Show the App on a Device – Showing the app on an iPhone and iPad adds context to the listing, and shows that the app can run on any iOS device. The app Clear, shown in the presentation, places all of the screenshots on actual iPhones and iPads.
Show a Person Using the App – This takes the context to the next level, and creates a deeper connection to the reader. Vine and LoopTube take different approaches to this strategy, but both apps help the readers imagine themselves using the app.
